So, I spent all of last week in LA for work. It was one of those weeks where we weren’t able to make any progress on our adoption (outside of me resisting the urge to hit up the H&M around the corner from our hotel in order to save $$). Being the control freak I am and to make myself feel like I was doing something, I ran to the library last weekend before I left to pick up some good reading and video material on adoption.

Sunday night before I left, Ryan and I snuggled up to watch Rick Steves’ Eastern Europe episode on “Surprising Bulgaria.” About 8 mins in, just as we started to get into it, it skipped until it finally completely quit on us. We returned the DVD and searched the internet only to find it minutes later for free on Hulu - isn’t technology wonderful?

I’m recommending it after watching only 8 mins, but have a good feeling it’ll be worth the 26 min watch if you’re interested in learning more about Bulgaria. It’s going to be our post-Super Bowl entertainment tonight.

One of my most favorite adoption blogs is Give 1 Save 1…if you’re not familiar, swing by their site and take a look around here!

Right now, they have three separate - but equally delightful - blogs devoted to Domestic, African and Asian adoptions. They share great advice, product recommendations, fundraising ideas - aka all great things adoption-related! My favorite part is that each week they feature a video message from a family who is in the adoption process from a country in their respective regions. They suggest that you give just $1 towards this family - JUST $1 - which, is nothing to us individually, but is collectively enough to really help out the featured family with their adoption expenses. It’s amazing to see how much money they raise each week…so amazing.

The lovely ladies who run the blogs (did I mention they’re also Believers?) are inspiring and truly show how strong the adoption community and its supporters can be.

No Eastern Europe blog yet, but looks like they’re working on it! I’m personally hooked on the Africa and Asia pages.
